Org-Gan-Na-Zize-Ing

I'm trying to clean up the blog a little and make it a little more organized.

The thing is, I write about everything on here. It's become a bit like a journal for me and it's hard for me to find things sometimes.

So, I'm trying to separate it into 8 general characters. I'm also trying to make it easier for you, dear reader, to find these things, too. Why? I don't know. In case you're like: "Hmm, I wonder what MySpace of Facebook Survey Bridge has fille dout already." or "What's that story I remember reading on Bridge's blog about some current event thingy?" And you can go to the category listings on the left here, click on them and look through.

The labels, pasted far down below, are way more specific, in case you have a very specific thing in mind. The catergories are at the top of the labels and the subcategories are separated in to Dewey Decimal subcategoriess at the top of "Labels" section. Why? Because I started categorizing everything into DDS from the beginning but it got to be too many. Hence the makeover.

Once I'm done, I'll make a post with the categories and descriptions and they will also be on the left. You can still look through postings chronologically by scrolling through the "Blog Archive", also on the left hand side, and separated out by weeks.

ESTP - The Doers

The active and play-ful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities. The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

Close. I mean, I love being outside to walk and stuff but I'm also capable of loafing around. I wonder if a different result will come up for my poetry website? Let's see...

ESFP - The Performers

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves. The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.

So, that's my poet side. That sounds a little more like me. Although I'm not averse to conflict all the time. What about my necklace making side?

ISTP - The Mechanics

The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts. The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.

So, that's my literary criticism side, apparently.

Well, that was exciting... two hours 45 minutes left to kill...

A Blog about Nont Blogging, Or Emailing, Or Going on the Internet

So, as I've mentioned periodically for the last few blogs, I've been off email, the internet and the blog, mostly. It is impossible in this day in age to go off completely, but I'm checking it once every few days as opposed to several times a day.

This was prompted by the fact that I wasn't on the computer all day long at work, having been laid off and also because I have the last leg of my third semester project, the critical thesis, to belatedly complete.

So, the result of the non-connected life lived? It's just like everyone else's non-internet experience. It had freed me to do the things that need to be done more. But, at the same time, I'm still as wanton to dawdle as I ever was. Without the internet to dawdle on, my dawdling is more productive.

At the same time, I have come to see that email is as essential as regular mail to the existence of every day. School things, friend things, work things, all get done on the internet these days. If you're not on it, you miss emails from professors, or friends who you've arranged a gathering with or companies who've switched to paper billing. So, one cannot, once fully on the internet, remove oneself. Unless I wanted to revert to the paper bills, endless phone calls and belated correspondence, as in the days of yore, yore being before 1994, when I first had an email address.

Do i care? No. Not really. But I'm glad I'm doing this time. I've gleaned a lot from it. I hope that, once all that needs to be done for school is done, I will take the learned lessons of this time and apply it to life post-mostly-off-the-internet. That is, I will revert to the books, or the PBS program or the pile of crap that needs to be sorted or the necklaces I want to make, instead of idling on the internet.

Periodic blogs will continue. I'll probably stat back with the regular postings after Doomsday AKA Jul 14 AKA Post Residency AKA the Beginning of the New Semester AKA After I Am Effing 30.

(Thank God for Sex and the City. They made it okay for me to not be married, have babies and a house even though I'm in the dread ts. Sling back a martini; that's what Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha did. And dang it, so can I!)

Happy 400th Post!!!!

This is the 400th post to the (blogger hosted) blog! Yay! That's a lot a blogification. As someone who used to write about four journals a year, I don't feel too guilty with the "time wasting". It's just now, a quarter of that journal writing (the stuff I feel comfortable sharing with the world, that is) gets published.

Thanks for reading. Here's to 400+ more! Ha ha!

Remodeling the IN THE PINES blog

So, what do you think of the new formatting? Just a little bit of a change. Like going to Ikea and buying new drapes and comforter. (See this entry).

I had to teach myself HTML and some CSS to get this to be this way. It took all of the Red Sox game, Forget Paris and half of An American in Paris. Then I went back during the Flavor Flav roast and did some more stuff.

An enriching night of vegging on the couch and playing with my blog.

Do you like the colors in the banner and the left nav? I would call it lavender but HTML calls it thistle.

Do you like the left hand navigation instead of right? And the smaller outer columns for more text within the body?

Figuring all this out was like figuring out how to read Don Quixote with a Spanish dictionary and limited knowledge of Latin. But it was fun.

Because I'm a geek.
