Songs that Don't Go Away

I went to a super neat-o seminar today on writing about rock/ writing and rock music, etc. We covered all the genres of writing, too. Seminar leaders Debra Marquart and Elizabeth Searle covered Fiction (Tonya and Nancy: The Rock Opera), personal essays (of Mickey Hart) and poems (about Charles Mingus). One of the many aspects touched upon was catchy songs that get stuck in your head and won't go away.

My current repeated song is:


"God's Comic" by Elvis Costello; it just won't get out of my head.

Anyway, how and what and why songs get stuck in your head was a topic on the NPR show "Radiolab" from WNYC. I heard this show when it first aired, and it's FASCINATING. They even talk to the Schoolhouse Rock guy.

Still Here

So, I changed my mind and decided to loaf until after GH. This is because I haven't loafed in ages and I like it and I can get away with it. Traffic will be horrendous, but it always is for me these days.

Anyway, what I did was rearrange the tags at the end of every entry, which is something I've been meaning to do for age now. And now, I shall finally finish packing and clean my car and be motivated. The third cup of coffee seemed to be the charm today.

GH- I'm sorry I missed the story line about the kidnapping of Jason's baby. that sort of bummed me out. We really oughta get DVR.

I still think that Logan guy is super cute, even if he is five years younger than me in real life.

When will Connie AKA Kate Hoard and Sonny end up together like the so obviously and inevitably will?

Okay. Must seize restless length's desire to move and pwork. Au revoir, dudes.

Procrastination Station

Okay, so instead of writing this and watching All My Children, I should be packing all the already laundered clothes and cleaning out my car. But it's so hot and the living room has a nice fan and I haven't played Snood in so long...

everything I haven't unpacked from Bermuda (still in suitcase)

Oh boy.

I'm tired just thinking about it.

Alright. Commerical's over and I think i felt a twinge of motivation coming on.

At Risk of Summons by DBS

Yeah, the Department of Blog Services will be after me soon for my blatant neglect of "In the Pines." Quite sorry about that, all. But as many of you may know, it's been a busy time:

1. Left old job
2. Began new job
3. went to Bermuda
4. have summer residency for grad school starting Friday
5. All the weddings and the babies and the family parties and visits
6. Harry Potter #7 is coming out

So, between all those things, I barely have time/ energy to sit and write an entry.

I will be away from Friday until the following Tuesday, so I don't expect I'll be writing much during that time, either. Please forgive me.

Once the residency is over, I should have a more regular schedule. I will be back to writing the blog and doing other things I am supposed to do routinely, like cleaning my room and doing my laundry. We shall see.
